Give the gift of time

LOOKING FOR NEW WAYS TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE?

When you volunteer at CCGC, you are giving children the gift of your time, and showing them that they have the support of their community. Too often, people of all ages who suffer from mental health or special education related issues are the subject of stigma and exclusion, but you can help to break down those barriers. Come and meet some awesome children and their families, and let's all grow stronger, together.

*See below for a note about volunteering in light of the COVID-19 pandemic

TYPES OF OPPORTUNITIES

Please note, not all opportunity types may have open positions at this time. Currently, due to COVID-19 restrictions on our operations, we are only seeking volunteers with the garden program or translational services.

  • Waiting Room Monitor

Share your time in the waiting room playing with and entertaining children who receive services at CCGC, as well as their siblings. As a volunteer, you will be free to do activities of your own choosing or simply interact with children around the materials and toys already in the waiting room. Typically, these are evening appointments and due to the nature of the work, we ask for a commitment of at least two consecutive hours per week.

  • Classroom or Playground Assistant

Help school staff oversee classroom activities, recess, or specials events. Many options are available, including: playground monitor, book reader, and assistant art or gym teacher. We can work with your schedule and have flexible options within a typical school day, but do ask that our volunteers be able to provide a minimum of two consecutive hours of time at the school per week.

  • Clerical Assistant

Share your office skills and help keep CCGC's office running smoothly so that we can better serve children and families! Volunteers should be able to work 2 hours a week, and evening availability is a plus. Bilingual candidates are strongly encouraged.

  • Offer your gardening skills to CCGC's new sustainable gardening program through your role as a garden programs assistant. As children part-take in various structured activities in the garden you will assist staff with general supervision, set-up/clean-up, running the activity, and other tasks that come up. Weekday availability is a must, as most garden events happen during school hours.

  • Offer your gardening skills to CCGC's new sustainable gardening program by helping to tend to regular garden maintenance tasks such as watering plants, weeding and tidying the space. Especially as our program expands into our new greenhouse and outdoor space, assistance from our community gardeners will be helpful to our success. It is preferential that you be able to offer about 2 hours a week of availability.

  • Translation Services

Share your talents as a multi-lingual individual to assist with translating a variety of documents and resources at CCGC to help make them more accessible to members of our community. A preference for Spanish speakers with some experience with terminology in the medical and/or psychological fields is currently in high need. Spanish speakers without this background and individuals fluent in other languages are encouraged to apply as well. Opportunities to make this a remote/virtual volunteer opportunity can exist.

Please click on the volunteer form button and complete. We will get back to you shortly!

*Volunteering in light of COVID-19

Though we are currently still taking applications from prospective volunteers, there may be a delay between when your application is accepted and when we can invite you to join us at our facility due to the ongoing restrictions in response to COVID-19. As of June 25, 2020, we are still operating at a reduced on-site capacity, and will only be able to accept volunteers who have begun their vaccination process and received at least their first dose at this time. Any vaccinated and accepted volunteers who serve with us will be required to follow all CCGC and CDC mask wearing, social distancing and all other safety guidelines while on site. That being said, if you are not yet vaccinated, we still invite you to apply and tell us about yourself and your interest in our volunteer program. Hopefully we’ll be able to see you soon!
