CCGC Clinical Day School
The CCGC School provides specialized academic instruction with intensive behavioral and therapeutic support to students from across Central Connecticut, ages 3-15 years old, who are struggling in public school settings due to emotional and behavioral challenges. We are committed to helping children gain the emotional, social, and academic skills necessary, in order to return to less restrictive school environments and achieve their full potential.
We strive to maintain a safe, accepting environment that embraces individual differences and cultural diversity, while also providing all students with a sense of community. CCGC emphasizes well-being, trust, respect, and accountability so that students can learn in a safe and nurturing environment.
We serve students aged 3-15, who are referred to us through there school district. Typically, these children have exhibited emotional, behavioral and social learning challenges that may include one or more of the following:
- Anxiety disorders
- Attention Deficit Disorders
- Executive functioning difficulties
- Non-verbal learning disabilities
- Mood and self-regulation challenges
- Trauma related disorders
Our staff is made up of special education teachers, mental health specialists, and behavioral support professionals, who are committed to ensuring the success of children of varying academic levels, learning abilities, and behavioral and emotional issues. With a 2:1 staff to student ratio, we are proud of our ability to offer individual attention and stability to children in order to meet their personal needs. CCGC is committed to helping students gain the academic knowledge needed for success, increase self-esteem, and develop socially appropriate skills.
Through a curriculum aligned with the Common Core State Standards, teachers utilize a differentiated, leveled reading program that directly and systematically teaches the structure of the English language. Our math program offers a spiraling curriculum approach that facilitates learning concepts for long-term retention.
In addition to providing quality academic instruction, the CCGC School encourages positive behaviors and teaches students how to regulate themselves – in school, at home, and in their communities. Students are monitored and rated on five target behaviors every 30 minutes, and have the ability to earn points for positively demonstrating them, which can be tallied and used in our token economy. Daily point sheets are an effective method for communicating with parents and tracking behaviors for school districts.

Our staff is comprised of highly-trained, compassionate professionals who are dedicated to improving the lives of those children in our care. They are continually trained in nonviolent crisis intervention, and use specialized de-escalation strategies that ensure the welfare, safety, and security of all CCGC students.
