Volunteer with the Garden

LOOKING FOR NEW WAYS TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE?

When you volunteer at CCGC, you are giving children the gift of your time, and showing them that they have the support of their community. Too often, people of all ages who suffer from mental health or special education related issues are the subject of stigma and exclusion, but you can help to break down those barriers. Come and meet some awesome children and their families, and let's all grow stronger, together.

*See below for a note about volunteering in light of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

WAYS TO BE INVOLVED WITH THE GARDEN

Garden Activities Assistant

Get the chance to work in our garden program and work hands-on with children. The garden activities assistant will come in during planting, harvesting, or other needed days to help staff at CCGC to successfully run a planting or harvest day activity. Responsibilities may include demonstrating/assisting children with basic gardening tasks, helping staff clean up and set up the activity, making sure supplies are ready to go, and other tasks needed to help run a gardening activity. Availability during weekdays is needed, as planting and harvesting days typically occur during school hours.

Garden Activities Guest Leader

Do you have a hobby or profession that gives you a knowledge or skill set related to gardening, farming, nutrition, or other relevant areas? Those who have a special skill set are welcomed to share their knowledge with the children at CCGC by leading a planting, harvest, or other garden activity with an incorporated lesson.

Garden Tender

Are you a fan of gardening and looking to give back to your CCGC community, but maybe working with kids isn’t really your thing? We are seeking volunteer garden tenders to donate their time to helping maintain the success and beauty of our garden. The tenders would come to the outdoor space and assist with things such as, weeding the garden, watering the plants, sweeping walkways, etc.. If you are someone with a flexible schedule, or who does not normally have weekday availability, this is an ideal way to get involved.

*Volunteering in light of COVID-19 -

Though we are currently still taking applications from prospective volunteers, there may be a delay between when your application is accepted and when we can invite you to join us at our facility due to the ongoing restrictions in response to COVID-19. As of June 25, 2020, we are still operating at a reduced on-site capacity, and will only be able to accept volunteers who have begun their vaccination process and received at least their first dose at this time. Any vaccinated and accepted volunteers who serve with us will be required to follow all CCGC and CDC mask wearing, social distancing and all other safety guidelines while on site. That being said, if you are not yet vaccinated, we still invite you to apply and tell us about yourself and your interest in our volunteer program. Hopefully we’ll be able to see you soon!
